Concrete dishes, accessories and equipment in contact with the food

 

Main requirements that the business user needs to know about

Article 26

Dishes, accessories and equipment made from concrete or similar porous material must be completely protected on the inside with impermeable coatings, stable and resistant to food ingredients.

Equipment from paragraph 1 of this article which during use comes into contact with drinking water, and is made on the basis of concrete, must conform with the requirements for concrete bound materials and prefabricated elements in a certain area of the drinking water given in Tables 1 and 2 which are printed with this Regulation and are an integral part of this Regulation.

Testing of articles from paragraph 2 of this article are carried out by standing in direct contact with the test water for three 72-hour periods. 0.01 M solution of sodium hydrogen carbonate is used as test water. During testing, migration values must not rise between 1st and 3rd extraction. Types and conditions of the testing and allowed limit values in the test water for different areas of use are given in Table 3 which is printed with this Regulation and is an integral part of this Regulation.

If the inside of the dishes, accessories and equipment from paragraph 1 of this article is protected with impermeable material (porcelain tiles, glass, synthetic masses etc.), their surface must be coated in a manner which prevents cracks and indentations.
